Leslie Albert Hatley was born in 1921 (Chesterton Q2-1921 3B:754) , son of George and Edith HATLEY (née KIDMAN), of Fordham.
In 1939 his father [27-10-1887] a dairyman and poultry farmer, and his mother [21-1-1894] were in Market Street, Fordham.



92 squadron was a Spitfire squadron which went to North Africa in February 1942, then via Malta and Sicily to mainland Italy in September 1943. 92 Squadron moved to captured airfields after the invasion of Sicily and were at Lentini in August 1943
If Leslie was with 92 Squadron before May 1943, he may well have been awarded the North Africa Star. The circumstances of his death are not known.
